The ELECT Student Specialist is responsible for the provision of case management and a broad array of academic and social services to eligible ELECT (Education Leading to Employment and Career Training) program participants (expectant and parenting young adults) to help them stay in school, navigate healthy parenting, graduate, successfully transition to employment/post-secondary education and achieve overall self-sufficiency. The ELECT program always works to connect the students to educational and cultural activities that promote students understanding of child development, nurturing parenting practices and exposes students to experiences that help them and their children grow and thrive.

Specific

Job Responsibilities:

* Maintain a caseload of up to 25 students and work with the students directly at their school, home or community sites on a weekly basis.

* Retrieve, maintain, and upload required documentation for student enrollment in the program. Maintain thorough student records throughout the duration of student's enrollment in the program.

* Adhere to data requirements and assure that case notes and other data (attendance, attendance notes, transition services, summer component, educational hours/service hours, etc) entry are timely and accurate. Attend data management and training and serve as back-up data coordinator.

* Ensure that student requirements, attainment of goals and outcomes as indicated in the ELECT program guidelines are documented and attained.

* Build and maintain collaborative relationships with partner schools to support student recruitment, retention, and resource coordination; attainment of school records; and ensure students can thrive at home, school, and work (when applicable).

* Assist with the development of outreach materials and marketing strategies that support recruitment and retention of students receiving services and those eligible to receive ELECT services. Ensure all students are invited to Wednesday workshops and all cultural activities.

* Attend ELECT team meetings, department meetings, and required training activities, including local and state conferences. Stay informed on research and best practices of supporting/engaging expectant and parenting teens/young adults. To be punctual for all meetings.

* Support undergraduate and graduate student interns (engage in orientation, training, peer site visits).

Position Requirements :

* Bachelor's degree required

* Evidence of experience working with expectant and parenting youth and families

* Knowledge of human development with a focus on children and adolescents, child development, assessment, and clinical skills

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills

* Facilitation skills

* Proficiency in using a personal computer, including Word, Outlook, and the internet

* Current Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Criminal History Check, and FBI Clearance

Technical

* Understanding of child, adolescent, adult, and family functioning

* Knowledge of challenges associated with teen parenting

* Commitment to providing supports and services to expectant and parenting teens

* Demonstrates the capacity to develop, supportive and be empathic in relationships
