Overview
Lead Practice Educator, NHS Grampian – Band 8A
1.0 WTE hours – Full time (37.0 hrs per week). Permanent position; job share could be considered.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time position of a Lead Practice Educator within NHS Grampian. The primary role will be to cover all the Acute Adult settings within Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, including NHS Grampian’s Medicine and Unscheduled Care Services, Surgical and Clinical Support Services. As organisational needs arise, there will be an expectation to deliver at the same level across other services within NHS Grampian.
This specialist educational role will drive forward in collaboration with the Chief Nurses, Lead Nurse for Practice Education and Development and the Nurse Director for Excellence and Innovation, NHS Grampian’s strategic priorities, Plan for the Future, and Scottish Government priorities. The post holder will also work as part of the Senior Practice Education and Development Team ensuring strong partnership and working relationships with NHS Education for Scotland (NES) and Higher and Further Education Institutes.
- Lead and coordinate practice education initiatives across Acute Adult settings in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and across NHS Grampian services as required.
- Collaborate with senior Nursing leadership and Education partners to align educational priorities with strategic plans and government priorities.
- Ensure robust governance and assurance of measurable educational outcomes in collaboration with teams of Educators.
- Develop learners within the Nursing and Midwifery workforce to deliver evidence-based, high-quality care in clinical areas.
- Enable the creation of a high-quality learning environment and promote evidence-based practice.
- Develop and implement innovative educational transitional programmes for staff; enhance learning and development using NES four pillars of practice framework.
- Exercise leadership and management skills, with strong interpersonal abilities and creative, innovative thinking to balance competing demands.
- Ensure robust educational governance and maintain a strong voice within Practice Education and Development.
- Extensive Practice Education experience.
- Master’s degree and a postgraduate teaching certificate.
- Fully knowledgeable of educational priorities and drivers informing local educational work plans across NHS Grampian services.
- Experience building strong partnerships with NES and higher/further education institutes.
- Proven leadership and clinical credibility with the ability to drive educational strategy and delivery.
