Adjunct Faculty, Political Science

La Salle University's Political Science has an ongoing need for highly qualified adjunct faculty to teach a variety of courses each semester on an "as needed" basis. Courses generally taught by adjunct faculty may include:
Introduction to US Government, Congress, The Presidency, and Media and Politics. These courses are generally offered in person, in the daytime.

Essential duties include preparing meaningful lectures and class activities for the full duration of the published class time for each class period according to academic calendar, creating a syllabus that meets the Provost's Syllabus Checklist requirements, creating assessment activities that support the stated learning outcomes for the course, addressing student questions in a timely and helpful manner, using Canvas and other technology to enhance student learning, supporting and following University policies and procedures as well as those for the BUSCA Program, attending faculty meetings, submitting grades and materials for assessment projects on or before stated deadlines, and communicating student concerns with personnel in the program.

Required qualifications include a master's degree in Political Science, Education or related field. Candidates with a PhD or JD are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching American Government. Knowledge and commitment to the mission of La Salle University is also required.

Preferred qualifications include research interest or coursework in Voting Behavior; or Media and Politics, previous experience teaching at the collegiate level, and willingness to be flexible in class scheduling.

Some classes offered may be in the evenings, on weekends, or online.

Compensation information is provided on a part-time, semesterly basis. The position is classified as exempt under the FLSA and is paid on a salary basis within the faculty group.
