Position Summary
- The Department of Global Languages, Literatures, and Perspectives on our main campus is seeking part-time adjunct instructors to teach Spanish courses. In addition to courses directed towards students learning Spanish as a second language during the day, we are also recruiting instructors to teach (SPN
203, 204, and/or 480) for our heritage speakers in BUSCA, our associate degree program at night.
Essential Duties
- • Prepare meaningful lectures and class activities for the full duration of the published class time for each class period according to academic calendar.
• Create a syllabus that meets the Provost's Syllabus Checklist requirements.
• Create assessment activities that support the stated learning outcomes for the course.
• Address student questions in a timely and helpful manner.
• Use Canvas and other technology to enhance student learning.
• Support and follow University policies and procedures as well as those for the department.
• Attend faculty meetings.
• Submit grades and materials for assessment projects on or before stated deadlines.
• Communicate student concerns with personnel in the department.
Required Qualifications
- • Master's degree in Spanish, Bilingual/Bicultural Studies, Education, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- • PhD in Spanish, Bilingual/Bicultural Studies, Education, or related field.
• Experience or training in teaching Spanish. Preference will be given to candidates with experience working with heritage speakers for our courses offered to heritage speakers.
Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours
- • If hired for BUSCA, instructors must be available to teach from approximately 6:00-9:15 PM as it is a program for evening students.
