Adjunct Professor – Exercise Sciences Program

The Center for Natural and Behavioral Sciences at Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia, PA invites applications for an Adjunct Professor beginning in the Spring of 2025.

The College, situated in Chestnut Hill, a charming neighborhood in Northwest Philadelphia, serves a culturally diverse student body.

The Center for Natural and Behavioral Sciences is an interdisciplinary departmental grouping of traditional studies like Biology, Environmental Science, Chemistry, and Psychology, to emerging fields like Exercise Science, Health Sciences, and Forensics, this Center provides students the ideal marriage between theory and practice thanks to CHC's small class sizes and strong liberal-arts environment. With seasoned, engaged faculty leading both lectures and labs, the individualized attention students receive in this Center provides them with the knowledge base required for their field along with direct hands-on experience and internship accessibility necessary to succeed in today's competitive scientific market.

Through coursework and hands-on experience, the Exercise Science program provides students with a strong foundation in the human movement sciences. Students will be prepared to better the lives of individuals in their community through teaching healthy lifestyle changes, encouraging others to meet or exceed their physical expectations, or aiding clients in regaining back their health and functional ability.

Course Information

Adjuncts are needed for:

  • EXSC
    306 Nutrition for Health and Wellness [ Sports Nutrition ]
  • EXSC
    305 Exercise Testing and Prescription

Preference is given to individuals able to teach in person. An excellent candidate may create a hybrid environment with at least 1 in-person class per week in collaboration with the interim department chair.

Opportunities for teaching in Fall 2025 (and subsequent semesters) are also available for additional subjects. EXSC
302 Exercise Physiology lecture and laboratory, EXSC
101 Introduction to Exercise Science, to name a few.

Requirements

  • Master's degree (or higher) in exercise science or a closely related discipline.
  • Previous college-level teaching experience, particularly in junior and senior-level exercise science courses is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving, writing, and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with learning management systems. Preferably Canvas.
