PositionSummary
The Education Coordinator is a full-time, community-embedded role at the heart of Al-Bustan's in-school education programs. Reporting to the Education Manager, the Education Coordinator is the organization's primary on-the-ground presence in Philadelphia schools - attending programs, supporting teaching artists, coordinating logistics, and ensuring that students and school partners experience Al-Bustan's work with care and consistency. This role is ideal for an early-career professional with a genuine passion for Arab arts and culture, a strong work ethic, and the organizational skills and interpersonal warmth to represent Al-Bustan well in school and community settings.
Key Responsibilities Program Support & School PresenceAttend in-school arts education programs alongside teaching artists, providing logistical and administrative support to ensure smooth program delivery.
Transport and deliver program supplies, materials, and equipment to school sites as needed.
Serve as a consistent, welcoming Al-Bustan presence for students, teachers, and school administrators.
Assist with setup and breakdown of program activities, events, and showcases.
Observe programs and report back to the Education Manager on program quality, teaching artist needs, and school partner feedback.
Coordination & AdministrationSupport the Education Manager in scheduling, communications, and day-to-day coordination across multiple school partners and teaching artists.
Maintain organized program records, including attendance, materials inventories, and program documentation.
Assist with data collection and program evaluation, including participant feedback and attendance tracking.
Support the coordination of education-related events, including student showcases, family engagement evenings, and educator workshops.
Assist with communications to schools, families, and teaching artists as directed by the Education Manager.
Teaching Artist & School Partnership SupportBuild positive, trusted relationships with teaching artists and school staff through regular, reliable presence.
Serve as a point of contact for logistical needs and questions between school visits and program sessions.
Help onboard new school partners to Al-Bustan's programs and expectations.
Support the Education Manager in maintaining school partnership documentation including MOUs and program schedules.
Additional ResponsibilitiesAssist with organizational events and public programming as needed.
Support the Education Manager with online Arabic language classes for children and adults as needed.
Contribute to a collaborative, mission-driven team culture within Al-Bustan.
Other duties as assigned by the Education Manager.
LocationAl-Bustanis located at 310 W Master St. Fl. 2 Philadelphia PA 19122
The Education Coordinator will work onsite at our partner school locations and at Al-Bustan's hub location. This is not a remote or hybrid position.
Qualifications Required1–3 years of experience in education, arts education, community programs, or a related field; exceptional candidates with less experience will be considered.
Genuine interest in and respect for Arab arts, culture, and the Arab American community.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail — ability to manage logistics, materials, and communications reliably.
Warm, professional interpersonal skills — comfortable building relationships with students, teachers, administrators, and artists from diverse backgrounds.
Ability to travel regularly to Philadelphia public and partner schools; access to reliable transportation required.
Comfort working in a small, lean nonprofit where flexibility and initiative are valued.
PreferredValid driver's license.
Experience working in Philadelphia public or charter schools.
Familiarity with Al-Bustan Seeds of Culture or the broader Philadelphia Arab American community.
