University Assisted Community Schools (UACS) Out-of-School Time (OST) & Adult Education Coordinator
The Netter Center's UACS OST and Adult Education Coordinator will serve as the connector between the OST and Adult Education programs and the University. Specifically, the Coordinator will supervise out-of-school time (OST)/after school, evening and summer enrichment programs, as well as academic program partnerships and activities. This is a Regular Part-Time Staff Position.

Summary:
Founded in 1992, the Barbara and Edward Netter Center for Community Partnerships is the University's primary vehicle for advancing civic and community engagement brings together the resources and assets of both the University and the wider community to help solve universal problems such as poverty, health inequities, environmental sustainability, and inadequate, unequal education as they are manifested in the University's local geographic area of West Philadelphia and Philadelphia Netter Center develops and helps implement democratic, mutually transformative, place-based partnerships between Penn and West Philadelphia that advance research, teaching, learning, practice, and service and improve the quality of life on campus and in the community.
The Netter Center's university-assisted community schools (UACS) is a strategy to educate, engage, empower, and serve all members of the community in which the school is located and engage students (K-16+) in real world, community problem solving.
The UACS OST/after school programs offer academic, cultural and recreational programming to students Monday through Friday from the last bell (2:54pm) until 6:00pm through the academic year and from 8am – 4pm for 6 weeks each summer. The UACS Adult Education program is offered from 6-8PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Responsibilities:
Major components of the position include planning, organizing and supervising the program's PT staff, university student workers and volunteers and supporting their delivery of effective instruction and programming. This position will also implement direct service related to program implementation. This position will implement all required program reporting and compliance, including that of funders and the Netter Center. Compliance activities include proper and complete student participant enrollment and student attendance documentation, among other tasks.
This position works as part of a team with other Netter Center staff and school partners and will work closely with and facilitate connections to faculty partners. This position works closely with their supervisor and school building leadership to ensure programming addresses the academic needs of students. The position is supervised by the UACS High School Program Manager.
This is a Regular Part-Time Staff Position.
Required Qualifications:
- A minimum of a Bachelor's and 1-2 years of experience working with high school-aged (grades 9-12) students and young adults, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong experience with community schools, preferably university-assisted community schools, and service learning, preferably academically-based community service, reading and writing literacy and youth workforce development.
- Knowledge about Penn and West Philadelphia preferred.
- Experience in facilitating successful youth development programs, collaborative endeavors, and managing multiple programs at once.
- Track record of both self-directed and team-oriented accomplishments.
- Organized, detail-oriented, accurate, dependable, and flexible.
- The ability to do frequent walking, including walking for extended periods of time indoors or outdoors.
- The ability to work at various community schools in person at least 75% of the time.
Schedule:
The UACS OST and Adult Education Coordinator schedule is typically 12PM- 6PM Mon/Wed/Fri and 12PM- 8PM on Tues/Thu.
This is a 1-year term appointment with the opportunity to extend based on available funding.
