The Department of Psychology at The Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA, USA, invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position, at the rank of Assistant Professor of Child Clinical Psychology.

Responsibilities of the Assistant Professor of Child Clinical Psychology include maintaining a strong record of publications in top outlets. This position will include resident instruction at the undergraduate and graduate level and normal university service, based on the candidate’s qualifications. Onsite teaching is an essential function of the job.

A Ph.D. in clinical Psychology and clinical internship are required with license eligibility in Pennsylvania by the appointment date.

Areas of specialization within child clinical psychology are open, but not limited to, candidates whose research would synergize with our current expertise in community and school-based prevention, childhood adversity and maltreatment, cognitive-neuropsychological bases of attention and behavior, stress and coping, emotion regulation, and developmental psychopathology. Two priority areas are: (1) mental health needs of and interventions for children, adolescents, including, but not limited to, families of color and other marginalized populations, and (2) mechanism-driven research in developmental psychopathology to elucidate pathways to risk and resilience.

The Penn State clinical psychology doctoral program is a clinical science program, accredited by both PCSAS and APA. The Psychology Department is strongly connected with the Social Sciences Research Institute (SSRI; http://(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).) and the Child Study Center (CSC; ), which function as university-wide translational research centers, supporting advances in developmental science aimed at promoting positive educational, health, and mental health outcomes for children, adolescents, and families.

Strong collaborative links exist with the other centers, as well as with the PSU Psychological Clinic and satellite centers in urban areas throughout the state. A record of collaboration is desirable for both ranks. Substantial collaboration opportunities exist within the department that align with the department’s cross-cutting research themes and across campus.

Candidates for the tenure-track Assistant Professor of Child Clinical Psychology position must have demonstrated ability as a researcher, scholar, and teacher in a relevant field and have evidence of growth in scholarly achievement. Duties will involve a combination of teaching (both undergraduate and graduate), research, and service, based on the candidate’s qualifications.

The ideal candidate will have a strong record of publications in top outlets and have either history of or potential for external funding.
