Position contingent upon grant funding sources. This position is reviewed annually for continuation and is strictly contingent upon the receipt of necessary funding sources and contractual agreements.

Summary:

The Integrated English Language Civics Education (IELCE) Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the IELCE program that is a program for ESL students to receive civics focused English language and IET classes. The coordinator would assist with recruiting and orientation, curriculum planning, supporting students as the move through the program, data tracking and professional development. Must be able to travel if needed.

They would also instruct classes within the program, as assigned by the Assistant Director of Literacy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Plan and provide curriculum in accordance with College and Career Readiness Standards, The English Proficiency Standards, agency PD plan, grant guidelines, and LCCC developed curriculum.
• Instruct IET and IELCE classes which includes co-teaching with job training instructors.
• Recruit new students into the program and provide state approved formal assessment and orientation.
• Collaborate with LCCC staff, instructors and community partners on programming activities.
• Use the e-data system to make sure data is correct and to use e-data reports for instructional planning and professional development activities.
• Maintain the program website, curriculum map, and lesson plan library.
• Provide in-house professional development to all staff working within the program.
• Recommend for purchase and manage resources both for instruction and for professional development activities.
• Collaborate with and maintain a presence at the Careerlink to provide and promote services.
• Work with instructors to follow a system for referral and communicate on student learning plans.
• Monitor goal attainment related to the grant specifications and career pathways model.
• Provide input on grant projects and program development.
• Participate with program director to create and maintain the program improvement requirements and communicate with the state professional development system.
• Work with program director and state professional development system to coordinate program improvement and professional development activities for staff.
• Assist the staff in the use of the online professional development tracking system.
• Attend required state and program meetings and conferences.
• Assure compliance with policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education or appropriate field from an accredited institution.

Certifications

• Act 153 Clearances (Act 34 PA Criminal Background, Act 151 PA Child Abuse History, Act 114 FBI Clearance Fingerprinting)

Work Experience

• Must have experience working with diverse populations.
• Must have experience in program administration.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Experience with Professional Development training, coaching, recruiting, coordination, needs assessment and system planning.
• Must possess a high level of the following work skills and behaviors: teamwork/cooperation, initiative, customer services and commitment to continuous professional growth in skills and knowledge.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Teaching certification, ESL certification and/or teaching experience with adults.
