Agusta Westland Philadelphia Corporation is seeking a Manager, CLAW Engineering US & AW609 FCS TL for its offices in Philadelphia, PA

Job Description:
  • Be part of the managerial chain responsible to provide direction and oversight and grow the US Flight Control System (FCS) Engineering team to achieve engineering targets.
  • Coordinate and be responsible for day-by-day management of Control Law (CLAW) Engineering team.
  • Collaborate with the head of FCS Technical Area and the senior FCS Manager to ensure coherency within this function across all geographies.
  • Responsible for ensuring alignment with established tools and processes.
  • Make recommendations on process improvement and assist in the adoption/deployment of these improvements across the geographies.
  • Coordinate with various team leaders and engineers, including Leonardo Helicopter Division (LHD) Engineering departments in US, Italy, and UK, to ensure AW609 Tiltrotor aircraft related tasks and products are completed in a manner that satisfies program objectives and provides high-quality deliverables.
    • Responsibility over the completion of the validation activities at system level for the Flight Control System, including organizing the certification audits with the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA)
    • Maintenance of the AW609 FCS System Specific Certification Plan
    • Develop company consensus for Issue Paper resolution and facilitate the process to obtain FAA concurrence.
    • Responsible for showing compliance to the certification requirements for Flight Control System
    • Coordinate and schedule, with the Italy based FCS group, the completion of certification activities (e.g. tests, safety analysis, etc.)
    • Manage AW609 FCS Integration Lab and test activities at Agusta Westland Philadelphia Corporation (AWPC).
  • Develop the US CLAW Engineering team. Mentor team members. Identify training and development opportunities. Work with Human Resources (HR) in recruiting and interviewing for talented engineers.
  • Execute customer modifications in agreement with head of Flight Control Systems Technical Area.
  • Ensure collaboration with all relevant engineering disciplines for the design, development, test, and certification of complex rotorcraft systems and support equipment. The perimeter of responsibility includes all products where the FAA or US Government is the approving authority, to include Part 21 and Part 145 engineering activities related to flight control systems.
  • Support the Sr. Manager of FCS with the head of Macro Area and engineering governance to develop the US FCS statement of work, associated schedule and budget.
  • Responsible for management of plans across multiple programs to ensure accurate cost accounting utilizing Earned Value Management (EVM) practices.
  • Develop cost and schedule plans for FCS activities and coordinate with interfacing stakeholders to ensure goals are achievable and support the overall objectives of the engineering organization.
  • Support the development of aircraft concepts and proposal preparation for major projects including US Future Vertical Lift and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Vertical Lift.
  • The employee is required to travel internationally and domestically up to 10-20% of the time.
  • Job Requirements:

    Bachelor's Degree or foreign equivalent
    * in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field and 10 years of experience in a technical engineering occupation. The ten years of experience must include the following:
    • 10 years of technical experience and responsibility of teams involved in design, development, test, analysis, and qualification of Flight Control Systems;
    • 5 years of experience in FAA or European Aviation Safety Association (EASA) certification of complex systems;
    • 5 years of experience performing project management duties;
    • 5 years of experience leading or managing a team of engineers.
    Any and all experience may be gained concurrently.
