Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
This is technical maintenance work coordinating the maintenance and repair of systems and equipment for a large water or wastewater plant or airport complex in a designated assignment. An employee in this class schedules and coordinates maintenance and repair work with the objective of achieving the most effective and efficient utilization of manpower, time, tools, materials, and equipment. Employees develop work standards for maintenance tasks, procure needed materials for maintenance work.
Work involves frequent contact with maintenance supervisors and operational and engineering personnel in coordinating and scheduling maintenance and repair work. Work is performed under the supervision of a technical or administrative supervisor.
- Civil Service Status: Presently employed by the City of Philadelphia with permanent Civil Service status and a Performance Rating of Satisfactory or higher.
- Education: Education equivalent to the twelfth school grade.

Experience:
Three years of technical experience in the maintenance and repair of mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, or electrical or electronic or instrumentation equipment. Trade. - Specific
Experience:
Two years of the above-mentioned experience at the full performance/journey level within a large industrial water plant or wastewater plant or within a large airport facility. - Alternative: Any equivalent combination of education and experience determined to be acceptable by the Office of Human Resources, which has included the specific experience described above.
Ability to physically perform the duties and to work in the environmental conditions required of a position in this class.
