Core Renewables develops and maintains solar and battery storage solutions for commercial and industrial customers across the northeastern United States. Projects include commercial rooftop solar as well as integrated storage.
Role DescriptionThis is an immediate, part-time role to be performed on project sites across eastern PA, northern PA, and central NY.
The Solar Commissioning Technician will perform start-up, testing, and commissioning of commercial and industrial solar pv systems ensuring they operate safely and according to design specifications.
Responsibilities include conducting functional and performance tests, verifying wiring and system configurations, checking inverters and monitoring equipment, and documenting commissioning activities.
The role may also involve diagnosing and troubleshooting system issues, coordinating with project managers, engineers, and installation crews, and supporting punch‑list completion prior to project handover. The technician will maintain accurate records, prepare commissioning reports, follow safety protocols, and occasionally support maintenance, inspections, and remote system monitoring.
Qualifications- Strong technical knowledge of Solar Systems and Solar Power, including components such as inverters, combiner boxes, communications cabling, and monitoring systems.
- Experience commissioning Chint Power Systems (CPS) string inverters or similar.
- Familiarity with commercial or industrial‑scale solar projects.
- Demonstrated ability in Troubleshooting electrical and control systems, diagnosing faults, and implementing corrective actions in the field.
- Experience reading and interpreting electrical drawings, one‑line diagrams, and equipment manuals.
- Commitment to safety practices, including adherence to OSHA guidelines and use of appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Effective communication and documentation skills for preparing commissioning reports, logs, and updates for project stakeholders.
- Ability to work on ladders, roofs, and outdoors in varying weather conditions, and to lift and carry equipment as needed.
- Prior field experience in solar installation, electrical work, or commissioning is strongly preferred; relevant certifications (e.g., NABCEP, OSHA 10/30) are a plus.
