Join Our Team as a Water/Wastewater Engineer II at ARRO Consulting!

This position is a mid-level professional responsible for supporting the planning, design, permitting, and construction of water, wastewater, and related infrastructure projects. The Water/Wastewater Engineer II applies engineering principles, technical expertise, and project coordination skills to deliver high-quality engineering solutions that improve essential public infrastructure and support the communities we serve.

The Water/Wastewater Engineer II works closely with project managers, senior engineers, clients, regulatory agencies, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams to support successful project delivery while ensuring compliance with applicable standards and regulations. This role also provides opportunities for professional growth, increased project responsibility, and mentorship of junior staff.

  • Assist with the planning, design, permitting, and execution of water and wastewater infrastructure projects from concept through construction and project closeout.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, reports, specifications, construction plans, and technical documentation.
  • Design water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, pumping stations, storage facilities, treatment facilities, and related municipal infrastructure.
  • Perform hydraulic modeling, system evaluations, feasibility studies, and engineering analyses to support project development.
  • Prepare cost estimates, technical memorandums, and supporting project documentation.
  • Coordinate permitting activities and assist with obtaining approvals from local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.
  • Coordinate with project managers, clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and internal project teams to support project delivery.
  • Conduct field investigations, site visits, inspections, condition assessments, and construction observation activities as required.
  • Provide construction phase services, including responding to Requests for Information (RFIs), reviewing shop drawings, evaluating change orders, and supporting construction administration.
  • Review project documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
  • Support proposal preparation, scope development, client communications, and presentations.
  • Provide guidance and technical support to Engineer I staff, interns, and CAD designers as needed.
  • Any other duties, as necessary, to drive the vision, fulfill the mission, and uphold the values of the organization.
Required Skills/Knowledge
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related engineering field.
  • Minimum of 3–6 years of relevant experience in water and wastewater engineering.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required;
    Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain within two years.
  • Experience with municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of water and wastewater engineering principles, design standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience preparing engineering reports, calculations, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and engineering software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, and hydraulic modeling software (WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, Info Water, Info Sewer, or similar).
  • Strong organizational, communication, project management, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
