Project Manager – Transmission & Distribution (T&D) Construction
We are seeking a skilled Project Manager – Transmission & Distribution (T&D) Construction to oversee and manage the construction of electrical transmission and distribution infrastructure. In this role, you will be responsible for leading T&D projects from inception through to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety and quality standards. You will coordinate with multiple stakeholders, including utility companies, contractors, engineers, and regulatory bodies, to ensure project success.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead and manage the full lifecycle of transmission and distribution construction projects, including planning, design, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
- Develop detailed project schedules, budgets, and resource plans, ensuring alignment with project scope and client expectations.
- Coordinate and collaborate with internal teams, subcontractors, utility companies, and regulatory agencies to ensure smooth execution of projects.
- Oversee site operations to ensure that construction activities comply with industry standards, regulations (e.g., NESC, OSHA), and environmental and safety protocols.
- Monitor project performance, addressing any issues related to cost, schedule, or quality, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Manage procurement of materials, equipment, and services, ensuring timely delivery and cost control.
- Conduct regular site visits to oversee the construction of transmission lines, substations, and distribution systems, ensuring adherence to project specifications and safety standards.
- Provide technical guidance and support to field teams, ensuring that all electrical and civil works meet design and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, including National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), and North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) requirements.
- Prepare and present progress reports, risk assessments, and project updates to senior management, clients, and stakeholders.
- Manage change orders, project documentation, and closeout processes, ensuring that all deliverables meet quality and contractual requirements.
- Cultivate a strong safety culture, ensuring all team members are trained and adhere to safety guidelines.
- Proven experience managing T&D construction projects, with expertise in high-voltage transmission lines, substations, or distribution systems.
- Strong knowledge of electrical utility construction practices, industry regulations, and codes (NESC, NEC, OSHA).
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on delivering projects on time and within budget.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or Certified Construction Manager (CCM).
- Experience working with utility companies and regulatory agencies.
- Knowledge of power systems, grid modernization, and renewable energy integration.
