Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Entry‑Level Rail Engineer (Engineer‑in‑Training) to join our growing Rail Construction & Administration Management (CAM) team. This position is designed as a career development opportunity for individuals who are passionate about rail infrastructure, field operations, and hands‑on project delivery.

As part of our Rail CAM team, you will gain exposure to multiple practice areas, including:

  • Rail Construction Management
  • Rail - Public Project Construction Observation
  • Industry Track Inspection and Owner Representative Services
  • Rail Geotechnical Engineering and Field Investigations

This role is ideal for candidates who enjoy travel, working outdoors, and learning directly from experienced railroad professionals. You’ll gain firsthand experience in how railroad and transportation infrastructure projects are planned, constructed, inspected, and maintained while developing the technical, project management, and leadership skills needed for long‑term career growth.

This is not a traditional office‑based engineering position. Our ideal candidate is someone who wants to develop their career through hands‑on project experience, frequent field assignments, and exposure to a wide variety of railroad infrastructure projects. Team members work alongside construction managers, track inspectors, owner's representatives, and geotechnical professionals while gaining experience across all Rail CAM service lines.

Travel may be required up to 100% during peak construction seasons and project demands.

Qualifications

You are passionate about:

  • Working collaboratively with others.
  • Having ownership in the work you do.
  • Using your talents to positively affect communities.

You bring to the team:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Demonstrated interest in field‑based engineering, construction observation, and railroad operations.
  • Enthusiasm for frequent travel and extended field assignments, including up to 100% travel during peak construction periods
    .
  • Ability to work in varying terrain, weather conditions, and active construction environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 30 pounds.
