Controller, Finance & Banking, Accounting Manager

Description

Robert Half is looking for an ambitious Controller to join a well-respected company. The Controller oversees all financial operations including supervising and performing core accounting functions such as financial reporting, timekeeping, billing, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll. The Controller will lead the overall financial planning and management efforts. This permanent position is for a Controller who will work in the Philadelphia region.

Responsibilities:

+ Leads and supervises the day‑to‑day operations of the accounting department

+ Drives the planning and execution of the annual budget

+ Oversees all financial and tax reporting

+ Manages general ledger and trust accounting activities

+ Supports billing and collections to ensure timely cash flow

+ Monitors and manages cash flow operations

+ Maintains banking relationships and reviews daily bank deposits

+ Ensures trust accounts remain fully compliant with all regulations and requirements

+ Reviews and approves accounts payable

+ Assigns projects and guides staff to ensure accuracy, compliance, and high‑quality work

Requirements

The ideal Controller candidate should have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education. CPA preferred.

Other requirements for the Financial Controller position include and are not limited to:

+ 5+ years of progressive accounting experience,

+ Proven experience leading and supervising teams

+ Hands-on experience with legal billing software or comparable accounting systems

+ Strong proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel

+ Skilled at managing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment

+ Excellent workflow organization and time‑management skills
