Position: Auditor 1 - Northeast Region

The Department of the Auditor General (DAG) is looking for motivated self‑starting individuals like you to join our team of fiscal watchdogs. This role helps ensure that municipal pension plans for police officers, paid firefighters, and non‑uniformed employees are properly funded and follow all required laws and guidelines. Your work supports fair and accurate oversight of local pension programs. As an Auditor 1 within the Bureau of Municipal Pension Audits in the Northeast region, you will perform the following duties:

  • Pension Compliance: Review municipal pension plans to confirm they meet all legal and policy requirements
  • Record Evaluation: Analyze documents, financial records, and other information related to pension administration
  • Data Management: Create, update and access audit work papers, findings, and reports
  • Standards Application: Apply laws, regulations, and auditing standards while completing assigned audit tasks
  • Information Analysis: Locate and assess key data needed to complete pension audits
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full‑time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday — Friday, with a 60‑minute lunch
  • Home Headquartered: This position is home‑headquartered. In order to be home‑headquartered, you must have a securely configured high‑speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.
    • Routine travel to auditee sites across Pennsylvania is required.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $53,008.00 (before taxes).
QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Associate degree from an accredited college/university with an area of concentration in accounting, business, data analytics, finance, economics, math, or a closely related field; or
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in accounting, business, data analytics, finance, economics, math, or a closely related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of education, experience, and training in accounting, auditing, or a closely related field.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must possess a valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required)
  • One or more of the following certifications:
    • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
    • Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE)
    • Certified Government Auditing Professional (CGAP)
    • Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM)
    • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
    • Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
