About U.S. Bancorp Asset Management, Inc. (USBAM) USBAM is a registered investment advisor and the institutional asset management organization within U.S. Bank. USBAM manages more than $400 billion in assets in money markets/liquidity, investment grade fixed income, Outsourced Chief Investment Officer (OCIO), and securities lending mandates. USBAM's OCIO team manages more than $30 billion in assets for clients including public, private and Taft-Hartley defined benefit pensions;

OPEB plans; endowments and foundations; not-for-profits; and other institutional clients invested in global equity, fixed income and alternative asset classes.

Role Summary

The Chief Investment Officer, Institutional OCIO (the "CIO") is a key executive responsible for shaping and executing the investment strategy for OCIO clients. The CIO serves as a public-facing thought leader, elevating USBAM's investment capabilities and driving innovation to meet the evolving needs of institutional OCIO clients. This role will be active on various investment committees and working groups that help formulate, implement and execute strategies for client portfolios and will provide leadership across portfolio management, capital markets and manager research, and product development, ensuring alignment with client objectives and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and lead OCIO investment strategy development ensuring consistent execution and risk management
  • Oversee all OCIO portfolio management, asset allocation, trading activities, and investment policy development for various market segments
  • Drive product innovation and research to address client needs and market opportunities
  • Collaborate with senior leaders at USBAM to deliver integrated solutions
  • Represent USBAM externally through development of thought leadership, media engagement, industry forums, and client events
  • Participate in select client and prospect discussions to articulate investment philosophy and capabilities
  • Lead investment team, investment committees, and maintain awareness of emerging strategies and market trends

Basic Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience

- 10 or more years of experience

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Proven track record of leadership in an investment management organization
  • Favorable long-term investment performance track record for related products and strategies
  • Deep expertise in global multi-asset class portfolio construction, asset allocation, and investment strategy development
  • Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements, including those applicable to SEC-registered investment advisors, mutual funds and ERISA
  • Exceptional communication skills, including media and public speaking experience
  • Ability to lead through influence in a matrixed organization and develop high-performing teams
  • CFA/CAIA designation and/or advanced degree strongly preferred

The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.
