About the RoleWe are seeking a hands-on Finance Manager to own the financial health and financial infrastructure of a growing company. This person will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing day-to-day accounting processes, producing reliable financial reporting, and building the financial models and forecasts needed to support business decisions.
The ideal candidate combines strong accounting and bookkeeping fundamentals with financial planning and analytical capabilities. This role will work closely with the founders, providing clear visibility into cash flow, profitability, runway, hiring affordability, revenue requirements, and different business scenarios.
This is a highly hands-on role requiring someone comfortable managing Quick Books and the monthly close while also building forecasts, budgets, dashboards, and financial models.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in Quick Books.
- Categorize transactions and ensure proper accounting treatment.
- Perform bank, credit card, and other account reconciliations.
- Manage Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).
- Coordinate contractor payments and maintain accurate payment records.
- Prepare and coordinate annual 1099 reporting.
- Manage the monthly financial close and ensure books are accurate and complete.
- Prepare monthly Profit & Loss (P&L) statements.
- Maintain and review the Balance Sheet.
- Prepare and monitor Cash Flow Statements.
- Track company burn rate and cash utilization.
- Prepare budget vs. actual reporting and analyze meaningful variances.
- Provide clear visibility into the company's overall financial performance.
- Build and maintain financial and operating models.
- Forecast cash runway and future liquidity needs.
- Analyze the financial impact of potential hires and major expenses.
- Build and maintain revenue forecasts.
- Conduct scenario planning based on changes in revenue, clients, staffing, or expenses.
- Develop and maintain annual budgets.
- Build financial dashboards to support ongoing decision-making.
- Monitor profitability and break-even requirements.
Work directly with the founders to translate financial data into practical business insights and answer questions such as:
- Can we afford this hire?
- How much runway do we have?
- What happens if we lose a major client?
- What is the financial impact of adding additional team members?
- How much revenue do we need to break even?
- How would different revenue or expense scenarios affect profitability and cash flow?
- Proven experience in accounting, finance, or a similar hands-on financial management role.
- Strong hands-on experience with Quick Books.
- Experience managing AP, AR, reconciliations, contractor payments, and monthly close.
- Strong understanding of P&L statements, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow Statements.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and cash runway analysis.
- Advanced Excel and/or Google Sheets skills.
- Ability to build financial models and translate financial data into actionable business insights.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to independently own financial processes from day-to-day bookkeeping through management reporting.
- Strong communication skills and ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
- Advanced English proficiency.
