Role Summary

Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) in Oncology/Hematology covering Upstate New York and Pittsburgh, PA. This field-based role supports the development and lifecycle management of Takeda Oncology medicines, engaging scientifically with key opinion leaders to share accurate, non‑promotional information. The preferred location is Upstate NY or Western PA; residence in the territory is required.

Responsibilities
  • Apply subject matter knowledge and adaptive communication skills to support medical strategies for Takeda hematology compounds and respond to unsolicited medical information requests from external stakeholders.
  • Develop and leverage thought leader relationships to meet the strategic needs of US Medical Affairs.
  • Provide medical insights and intelligence from the field to support development and lifecycle management of Takeda Oncology products.
  • Participate in, lead, and contribute to projects within a matrix environment to increase the value of US Medical Affairs Oncology (USMAO).
  • Establish relationships and engage in peer‑to‑peer scientific discussions around emerging data, treatment guidelines, molecular pathways, and mechanisms of action for Takeda Oncology products, including clinical outcomes and research opportunities.
  • Formulate and maintain a territory engagement plan aligned with US Field Medical priorities and execute it according to MSL priorities.
  • Regularly collect medical insights from scientific exchanges with HCPs and medical communities and ensure timely entries into the internal insight system for communication to stakeholders.
  • Respond to unsolicited inquiries in line with the field medical SOP.
  • Support Takeda Oncology sponsored research and assist in identifying, evaluating, and screening qualified research sites for company-sponsored clinical investigations.
  • Actively participate in executing USMAO strategy at medical conferences and may co‑lead a conference with potential to lead in subsequent years.
  • Identify potential qualified sites for future pipeline studies.
  • Presents accurate, fair, balanced scientific information to external stakeholders in 1:1 settings and at medical meetings or Takeda‑sponsored engagements.
  • Complete all required training, activity documentation, expense reporting, and other administrative responsibilities.
  • Daily entry to hospitals and other medical facilities is required; comply with credentialing requirements and training as applicable.
Qualifications
  • Required: Experience in Oncology is required.
  • Preferred: Hematology therapeutic area experience.
  • Required: A minimum of 3-5 years of healthcare, clinical, or related experience (residencies, post-doc fellowships, managed markets, clinical practice, research or academic).
  • Required: Superior communication skills, both oral and written, and ability to engender trust and respect.
  • Required: Proficiency in technical and scientific languages to communicate with KOLs, Medical Affairs, R&D, and other internal and external stakeholders.
Education
  • Required:

    Advanced scientific or healthcare degree; doctoral degree preferred (e.g., Pharm

    D, PhD, MD, RN, NP or DMP/ARNP).
Additional Requirements
  • Travel:
    Overnight travel (40-60%), including some weekend commitments; travel may vary by geography.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
  • Ability to use field‑based telephonic and computer tools for all aspects of the job.
