Contract Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Data Governance Architect with strong expertise in Microsoft Purview to design, implement, and scale enterprise-wide data governance frameworks. The ideal candidate will define governance strategy, establish data policies and standards, and lead the implementation of MS Purview for data cataloging, classification, lineage, and compliance across the organization.

• Design and implement enterprise Data Governance frameworks, policies, and standards
• Lead the architecture and implementation of Microsoft Purview (Data Map, Data Catalog, Information Protection, Data Loss Prevention)
• Define data ownership models, stewardship processes, and governance operating models
• Implement data classification, metadata management, lineage tracking, and data quality frameworks
• Configure and manage data discovery, scanning, and cataloging across Azure, SQL, Power BI, on-prem & multi-cloud environments
• Establish business glossary and metadata standards
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA, etc.)
• Collaborate with Data Engineering, Security, Compliance, and Business stakeholders
• Design governance controls for structured and unstructured data
• Create governance dashboards, KPIs, and reporting metrics
• Provide guidance on data lifecycle management and retention policies
• Support cloud data governance strategy in Azure ecosystem

• 8+ years of experience in Data Management / Data Governance
• 3+ years of hands‑on experience with Microsoft Purview
• Strong understanding of:
• Data Cataloging & Metadata Management
• Data Classification & Sensitivity Labels
• Data Quality frameworks
• Experience with Azure Data Services (Azure Data Lake, Synapse, Azure SQL, Power BI)
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance and risk management
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills

• Experience with other governance tools (Collibra, Alation, Informatica, etc.)
• DAMA-DMBOK knowledge or DCAM framework experience
• Experience in multi-cloud environments (AWS/GCP)
• Understanding of Master Data Management (MDM)
