Training and Development Benefits OVERVIEW
The Specialist, Information System Security III (SISS3) provides advanced cybersecurity and information system security support for Department of the Navy (DON) systems, with emphasis on execution of the Risk Management Framework (RMF). This role supports Assess & Authorize (A&A) and Assess Only (AO) activities, vulnerability assessments, security testing, and continuous monitoring to obtain and sustain Authorization to Operate (ATO). The Specialist develops, maintains, and assesses RMF artifacts using enterprise cybersecurity tools and supports remediation and compliance activities in accordance with DON, NAVSEA, and DoD cybersecurity policies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Cybersecurity & System Security Support

• Implement and maintain security controls in accordance with DoD RMF requirements.

• Support Authorization and Assessment (A&A) activities, including documentation, testing, and remediation efforts.

• Assist system owners and engineers in identifying, mitigating, and resolving cybersecurity vulnerabilities.
Security Tools & Technical Operations

• Utilize Information Assurance tools such as DISA Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS) and Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS).

• Perform system security analysis and monitoring across Microsoft Windows operating systems, including Windows 11, Windows 10, Windows 7, and Windows XP.

• Execute command-line operations, Power Shell scripting, and automated tasking to support security operations and compliance activities. Compliance & Documentation

• Ensure system security activities comply with applicable DoD, DON, and DFARS cybersecurity requirements.

• Maintain accurate security documentation, artifacts, and reports to support audits and assessments.

• Coordinate with cybersecurity stakeholders to support continuous monitoring and authorization sustainment. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or high school equivalency certificate required; college degree in a technical discipline preferred.

• Five (5) years of experience in cybersecurity, engineering, Test & Evaluation (T&E), or Authorization & Assessment (A&A) related fields. Without a college degree, seven (7) years of experience is required.

• Experience using IA tools such as eMASS and ACAS.

• Experience administering Microsoft Windows operating systems.

• Proficiency with command-line interfaces, Power Shell, and automated scripting.

• Must possess and maintain DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification.

• Must meet DON Cyberspace Workforce (CSWF) baseline requirements.
