we are seeking a high-caliber avd engineer to lead the architecture, automation, and optimization of our enterprise cloud desktop environment. This role is designed for a technical specialist who excels at the intersection of azure infrastructure, nerdio automation, and powershell scripting
. You will be responsible for delivering a high-performance, cost-effective virtual desktop experience for a large-scale user base.
core responsibilities
- infrastructure engineering: architect and deploy scalable avd host pools using arm/bicep templates and automated provisioning workflows.
- nerdio orchestration: serve as the subject matter expert for nerdio manager for enterprise
, leveraging it for advanced auto-scaling, image lifecycle management, and global cost optimization. - user profile optimization: design and troubleshoot complex fslogix profile and odfc containers to ensure seamless, persistent user experiences and rapid logon times.
- advanced automation: build and maintain a robust library of powershell scripts to automate routine administrative tasks, software deployments, and system health checks.
- tier 3 technical lead: act as the final escalation point for complex vdi performance issues, profile corruption, and connectivity challenges within an itil-aligned framework (servicenow).
- image management: engineer and harden "golden images" (windows 10/11 multi-session) and manage versioning via azure compute gallery

- expertise: 5+ years of systems engineering experience, with at least 3 years of dedicated azure/avd focus
. - core stack: proven, hands-on experience with nerdio manager for enterprise and fslogix is strictly required.
- scripting: advanced proficiency in powershell for enterprise-level automation and infrastructure management.
- networking: strong understanding of azure virtual networking (vnets, nsgs, private endpoints) and entra (azure ad) identity integration.
- process: experience working within an itil environment and utilizing servicenow for incident and change management.
- soft skills: exceptional communication skills with the ability to bridge the gap between deep technical execution and executive-level updates.
