Middleware / API Integration Engineer
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Job Type: Long-Term Contract

Position Overview
We are hiring a Middleware / API Integration Engineer for a long-term contract opportunity supporting a large-scale airport technology environment. This role is responsible for managing middleware platforms, APIs, system integrations, and data exchange services that connect critical enterprise and operational systems. The ideal candidate will ensure reliable system interoperability, secure data flow, message transformation, and application connectivity across complex technology environments.
Responsibilities
- Administer middleware platforms, integration engines, and enterprise service bus (ESB) solutions supporting system connectivity and data exchange.
- Develop, configure, and maintain APIs, web services, data connectors, and integration workflows.
- Monitor data flows, message queues, and system integrations to ensure operational continuity and data accuracy.
- Troubleshoot integration failures, communication errors, schema mismatches, and real-time data processing issues.
- Collaborate with system owners, vendors, and technical teams to support application integrations and enterprise connectivity requirements.
- Implement security controls, authentication methods, and access management for APIs and system-to-system communications.
- Support ETL processes, data mappings, transformation rules, and integration workflows across multiple platforms.
- Maintain integration documentation, API specifications, connection diagrams, and workflow definitions.
- Assist with modernization initiatives, including migration to new integration platforms and cloud-based services.
- Provide Tier 2/3 support for integration-related incidents and service disruptions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- 5-7 years of experience supporting middleware platforms, APIs, system integrations, or enterprise application connectivity.
- Strong knowledge of REST and SOAP APIs, XML, JSON, message queues, integration patterns, and system-to-system communication.
- Experience with enterprise integration platforms such as Mule Soft, Dell Boomi, Azure Integration Services, TIBCO, or similar technologies.
- Ability to troubleshoot data flow issues, interface errors, API authentication failures, and routing problems.
- Understanding of ETL processes, data transformation, schema mapping, and enterprise integration architecture.
- Strong scripting or programming skills using Power Shell, Python, JavaScript, or similar technologies.
- Excellent documentation, analytical, and communication skills.
- Experience supporting transportation, operational technology, or large enterprise environments is preferred.
- Relevant certifications in cloud integration, API development, middleware platforms, or related technologies are preferred.
