Position Summary

The Associate Director/Director of IT will be a key contributor in shaping and advancing Avalo’s IT capabilities in a highly regulated biotech/pharmaceutical environment. This role combines strategic ownership with hands‑on execution across infrastructure, cybersecurity, cloud services, digital workplace technologies, and business systems. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise in Microsoft 365 and digital workplace technologies, sound judgment, and the ability to partner effectively across scientific and corporate functions to deliver secure, scalable, and fit‑for‑purpose technology solutions that support business growth.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Implement and continuously improve Avalo’s Information Security program ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements (SOX, GxP, FDA, and other relevant regulatory standards).
  • Ensure Avalo’s infrastructure and cloud computing are properly architected and scaled to support growth.
  • Lead the implementation and ongoing optimization of cloud‑based applications, infrastructure, and services to support business growth, scalability, and operational resilience.
  • Manage infrastructure including video/audio conference systems and data governance; ensure solutions are compliant with corporate policies/standards and relevant regulations.
  • Ensure changes to Avalo Information Systems adhere to regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Oversee secure endpoint configuration and management in collaboration with Managed Service Provider.
  • Keep up‑to‑date with relevant technology to ensure fit‑for‑purpose, scalable technology is implemented to support growth.
  • Serve as system owner and administrator of Avalo business systems; ensure technology/systems properly managed and maintained. Partner with business owners to ensure proper control of system access and content management.
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex technology issues, ensuring timely resolution and a high‑quality end‑user experience in partnership with internal stakeholders and external service providers.
  • Drive user adoption of enterprise technologies by developing practical guidance, training, and support resources that improve employee experience and effective system use.
  • Develop and configure solutions from conceptualization to stabilization using various computer platforms.
Required

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, engineering, or related field; equivalent experience considered;
    Master’s degree a plus.
  • 10+ years of progressive IT experience, including experience in regulated life sciences, biotech, or pharmaceutical environments.
  • Experience supporting cloud infrastructure, digital workplace technologies, business systems, and cybersecurity controls.
  • Experience managing MSPs, vendors, and third‑party technology partners.
  • Working knowledge of compliance and control frameworks such as SOX, GxP, FDA‑regulated environments, NIST CSF.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Azure, cloud architecture, and modern IT infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with AI‑enabled workplace tools, governance considerations, and their application in business processes.
  • Exceptional problem‑solving skills and willingness to engage in hands‑on technical support.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
