Robert half is seeking a Materials Manager to oversee inventory strategy, purchasing activity, and receiving operations for a manufacturing environment client in the Philadelphia area. This role works closely with production, operations, and finance teams to keep materials flowing efficiently, maintain accurate data, and support reliable customer delivery. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical judgment, hands-on procurement experience, and the ability to improve inventory control processes while guiding day-to-day warehouse receiving activity.
Responsibilities:
+ Direct material planning activities to maintain appropriate stock levels for raw materials, components, packaging, and operational supplies.
+ Evaluate demand, lead times, reorder settings, and safety stock levels to support efficient replenishment decisions.
+ Prepare and manage purchase orders from issuance through delivery, receipt confirmation, and final reconciliation.
+ Act as a primary resource for the company ERP platform, supporting accurate transaction processing and effective system use.
+ Maintain reliable purchasing, inventory, receiving, and supplier records to preserve data accuracy across the operation.
+ Lead daily receiving functions and provide supervision and direction to one team member.
+ Organize cycle counts, audit activity, and stock adjustments to strengthen inventory accuracy and control.
Requirements
The ideal Materials Manager candidate should have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education.
Other requirements for the Materials Manager position include and are not limited to:
+ 3+ years of inventory experience
+ Advanced Excel skills.
+ Proficiency in inventory management systems and ERP software
+ Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills
