Position Overview
The Director is a senior leadership position, with responsibility for leading strategy development,
fund development, and external engagement to further the mission of Everybody Builds. The ideal candidate will be an experienced and trusted manager and leader with an established network in the Philadelphia region's construction industry, a strong external presence, and the ability to successfully engage industry leaders to advance the organization's mission. They will bring a deep understanding of the construction industry and the challenges and opportunities it faces.
In addition, they will have the ability to move from program conception to implementation and evaluation.
Responsibilities
Organizational Leadership, Strategy and Development
- Serve as strategic partner to the Executive Director
- Cultivate strong relationships with the Board of Directors and strategic partners
- Prepare presentations for quarterly Board of Directors meetings, attend Board of Directors committee
- meetings, and take meeting minutes
- Lead efforts with staff to identify and implement operational improvements
- Manage the organization's efforts to maintain sound fiscal health and grow the funding base in pursuit of growing Everybody Builds' programming capacity
- Partner with the Executive Director to draft annual budgets and monitor fiscal performance
- Lead the development of program improvement frameworks and establish annual goals
- Manage fundraising efforts through direct engagement with potential donors
- Evaluate and optimize data collection systems for measuring organizational impact, establishing protocols and accountability measures to ensure consistent data quality across all programs and staff
- Lead the development of the Annual Impact Report
• Oversee implementation of Salesforce project management software organization-wide
- Oversee the development and execution of workforce development (primary goal) and business development (secondary goal) programs; with target of expanding best practices to multiple construction trades
- Manage strong relationships with a network of community-based organizations, social service providers, pre-apprenticeship partners, contractors, workforce intermediaries, and other industry stakeholders.
- Conduct outreach to underrepresented communities to raise awareness of construction career opportunities
- Maintain and grow ongoing engagement with pre-apprenticeship partners, union representatives and contractors to support partnerships and pilot program implementation
- Represent Everybody Builds at industry events, job fairs, info sessions, community events, stakeholder meetings, etc
- A bachelor's degree, or equivalent education plus experience. Master's or Advanced degree desirable.
- At least 3 years of management experience leading initiatives and/or implementing programs in the construction or real estate industry.
- Experience developing programming and systems, and/or innovating and implementing changes to improve existing systems.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity and specific knowledge of Philadelphia's construction industry are required.
- Familiarity with Greater Philadelphia area communities, especially populations underrepresented in the construction industry
- Knowledge of challenges and opportunities faced by diverse contractors and apprentices as related to the mission of Everybody Builds.
- Strong understanding of nonprofit management, leadership, and policy issues
- Ability to establish and build strategic relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Staff and Consultant oversight and management experience.
- Innovative and effective problem solver and creative thinker who manages time efficiently and works collaboratively within a small team/organization.
- Ability to manage multiple complex, collaborative projects simultaneously
- Financial management and budgeting skills
- Annual salary begins at $120,000 dependent on education and experience.
- Hybrid position with a minimum of 3 days a week attendance in office (subject to change), and frequent attendance at in-person meetings and after-hours events as necessary.
