As a key member of the team, you will bridge the gap between physical construction and technical requirements, ensuring that new medical spaces-ranging from clinical laboratories to outpatient offices-are delivered on time, within budget, and equipped with state-of-the-art IT systems.
Key Responsibilities
* Project Leadership:
Manage all phases of construction projects, from pre-construction planning through final close-out and occupancy.
* Site Buildouts & Renovations:
Lead interior renovations and buildouts, coordinating demolition, MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing), and finishes, particularly within occupied healthcare environments.
* IT Infrastructure Coordination:
Act as the primary liaison between construction teams and IT/IS departments to coordinate structured cabling, data center installation, network closets, and clinical technology integration.
* Budget & Schedule Management:
Develop, maintain, and monitor project budgets, schedules, contracts, and change orders.
* Vendor & Contractor Management:
Oversee subcontractor performance, vendor contracts, and safety compliance.
* Quality & Safety:
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory standards, including Joint Commission (JCAHO) and Department of Health.
* Stakeholder Communication:
Provide regular updates to facility leadership, clinical managers, and IT stakeholders regarding project scope, risks, and mitigation.
Minimum Requirements
* Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field required.
* Experience:
5+ years of progressive construction project management experience.
* Specialized Knowledge:
Proven experience managing site buildouts (commercial or healthcare) and IT infrastructure projects (cabling, server rooms, data centers).
* Healthcare
Experience:
Experience working in a hospital or clinical environment is highly preferred.
* Technical
Skills:
Proficiency with project management software, CAD, and MS Office Suite.
* Certifications:
PMP or CCM (Certified Construction Manager) is a plus.
Critical Success Factors
* Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
* Strong understanding of technical IT scopes in a physical construction context.
* Excellent communication skills to manage stakeholder expectations in a high-paced, academic medical environment.
