Design, manufacture, calibrate, recondition, and repair machine shop tools, jigs, fixtures, and gages used by workers performing machining and assembly work;
Plan and lay out jigs and fixtures for fabrication and assembly from blueprints, sketches, or molds;
Determine specifications of jig or fixture to be made; select suitable metal stock; calculate dimensions and tolerances; plan sequence of work operations;
Assemble parts and check completed jig or fixture for accuracy using precision measuring instruments;
Manufacture machine cutting tools such as gear cutters, hobs, double angle cutters, form tools and dies for punching operations;
Repair, modify and calibrate precision measuring instruments used in the machine shop (e.g., Vernier gages, micrometers, gage blocks, dial indicators)
