Pasteurizer Position

Work Schedule:

Thursday - Monday

Hours:

2:00 AM - 10:30 AM; with willingness to work overtime, different days/shifts for coverage, extra days, and holidays as needed.

Rate: $25.79/ hour (starting rate at 80% of the full rate)

Wage Progression:

  • 80% at hire: $25.79/ hour
  • 90% after 6 months: $29.02/ hour
  • 100% after 1 year: $32.24/ hour

This position follows a union wage progression scale. Employees advance to the full rate after one year of continuous service.

Summary:

The Pasteurizer is responsible for strictly adhering to all food safety, quality assurance, and GMP policies and procedures during processing. Under the supervision of the Production Supervisor/Manager, The Pasteurizer will be responsible for ensuring all known pathogens are pasteurized and the product is homogenized. This position is also responsible for running and maintaining pasteurization units, homogenizers, batching equipment and other related equipment within the dairy production environment.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for batching and pasteurizing in the production of finished dairy goods.
  • Closely monitor the dairy production process and follow Standard Operating Procedures for batching and processing products. Monitor fats, total solids, allergen, cryoscopy, and other related items as they associate with processing dairy products; report any deficiencies.
  • Ensure that all pre-operational, system start-up, and in-process monitoring activities are completed following the HACCP Plan.
  • Operate homogenizing and pasteurizing equipment, make adjustments when necessary, and perform troubleshooting with the ability to resolve basic to moderate operating difficulties.
  • Follow the mix batching schedule and ensure that all raw batching is completed following formulation and standards. Batch sheets will be the source of the formulation for all mixes.
  • Ensure that all food safety, quality assurance, and GMP policies and procedures are strictly adhered to during the pasteurizing process.
  • Maintain compliance and ensure that all raw ingredients and materials are handled under manufacturers' recommendations, and internal food safety requirements, and under regulatory standards that are established by GMP, PMO, OSHA, and FDA.
  • Properly conduct and document the system verification and monitoring activities of the operation of the pasteurizer. Accurately prepare & maintain all area paperwork, legal charts & documents.
  • Maintain sanitation of equipment including CIP/SIP & hand cleaning;
    Responsible for general housekeeping to ensure a clean, sanitary, and safe work area.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor
  • All employees are expected to support the Safe Quality Food (SQF) Program by following food safety and quality procedures, maintaining hygiene and cleanliness, and reporting any concerns. Team members must understand their role in the SQF System, complete required training, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement to ensure safe, high-quality products.

Basic Requirements:

  • Minimum high school diploma with higher education or certification preferred.
  • Three (3) years of experience in a Pasteurizing role or of a similar role preferred.
  • Two (2) years of experience in a manufacturing facility preferred.
