Job Summary:
- Responsible for the delivery of safe patient care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice.
- Directs and guides patient/family teaching.
- Oversees activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining professional nursing standards in Telemetry.
- Directly responsible and accountable for care given to patients in the Emergency Department.
- Communicates with physicians about changes in patient clinical condition, including diagnostic study results and symptomatology.
- Capable of responding quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition and/or response to treatment.
- Knowledgeable about EMTALA regulations and the reporting of child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies and Hospital Social Worker.
- Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.
Education, Experience, and Training:
- Current and valid state RN License.
- Current BLS certificate upon hire and must maintain current certification.
- Current ACLS certificate within 30 days of hire and must maintain current certification.
- Current PALS certificate and/or ENPC within 30 days of hire and must maintain current certification.
- Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
- Minimum of one year experience as a staff RN in an acute care hospital setting; E.R. experience preferred.
- Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
