Job Summary
Dedicated to patient‑ and family‑centered care, the professional nurse will develop and implement individualized nursing plans, integrate evidence‑based practice, and collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams at Jefferson Health.
Responsibilities- Interact with co‑workers, patients, and their family or designated care partner(s) in accordance with Jefferson’s values.
- Integrate evidence‑based practice, clinical expertise, and cultural preferences into quality care delivery.
- Partner with patients and family partners to identify learning needs and provide clear, affirming education.
- Minimize risk of harm by following established nursing practices, protocols, and individual performance standards.
- Use information technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support ethical decision making.
- Use data to monitor care outcomes and employ improvement methods to design, test, and implement changes that enhance patient safety and quality.
- Function effectively within inter‑professional teams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision‑making.
- Recognize patients and their family or care partners, providing safe, compassionate, and coordinated care that respects personal preferences and cultural beliefs.
- Create an environment of belonging and inclusion, applying problem‑solving and conflict‑resolution skills.
- Demonstrate a commitment to learning, seek opportunities for professional growth, and act as a primary preceptor when appropriate.
- Actively participate in hospital‑ and practice‑setting committees, including safety and quality improvement.
- Give and receive constructive feedback and incorporate changes into practice.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a specialized diploma.
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice (PA or NJ) or equivalent.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Knowledge of patient and family‑centered practice, cultural awareness, effective communication, and patient assessment.
- Ability to administer medications, use prescription protocols, and support discharge planning.
- Competence in health information documentation and use of nursing assessment tools.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) or completion of a BSN program within three years of hire.
- At least one year of RN experience in an acute‑care setting.
- Lift and carry 40–50 lbs. (e.g., push/pull patients on beds or stretchers).
- Perform lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of patient weight.
- Stand, walk, kneel, bend, and squat frequently during shifts; typically 8–10 miles of walking per shift.
- May be required to perform specific activities such as CPR.
Day (Workday) – Regular employee hours.
