Position Overview
Registered Nurse Instructor with the South Mountain Restoration Center. Support staff in providing high‑quality resident care for individuals with serious psychiatric histories, long‑term facility residents, and formerly incarcerated persons.
Description of Work- Develop continuing education by assessing staff needs, preparing lesson plans, and sharing knowledge from seminars and workshops.
- Present instruction to all levels of nursing personnel on nursing practices, resident care, safety, documentation, and other core topics.
- Evaluate programs by reviewing training effectiveness, observing staff performance, and maintaining records.
- Orient new staff through programs covering center policies, procedures, layout, and expectations.
- Train nurse aides by coordinating, administering, and evaluating the Center’s Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program (NATCEP) in compliance with current standards.
- Participate in committees to assess and implement procedural updates, monitor programs, and coordinate training.
- Full‑time employment, 40 hours per week.
- Work hours 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday–Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch.
- Telework not available.
- Salary is non‑negotiable in some cases.
- Three years of professional nursing experience and a bachelor’s degree in nursing, nursing education, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university; or
- One year of professional nursing experience and a master’s degree in nursing, nursing education, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.
- Active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
- If holding an active temporary practice permit, obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within one year as required by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- Ability to perform essential job functions is required.
- A conditional offer of employment requires a medical examination and drug screening.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment requires submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to PA State Police and FBI clearance.
