Description

Malvern Treatment Centers is currently seeking a full time, day shift (7am - 7:30pm) Nurses for our Malvern Treatment Center facility in Philadelphia. The location of our Malvern Treatment Center
- Philadelphia is 3905 W. Ford Road
- Philadelphia, PA 19131.

The schedule would be from 7:00am - 7:30pm on three (3) set days per week with an every other weekend commitment. This full time opportunity is a benefits eligible position! Malvern has recently increased the amount of their shift differentials starting at 3pm!

The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for organizing and delivering individualized, professional nursing care to all patients as assigned. Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, he or she provides nursing care following the multidisciplinary treatment plan, the policies and procedures of Malvern Treatment Centers, and the Nurse Practice Act. In addition, the Nurse maintains standards of nursing care as established, participates in patient teaching, and coordinates discharge planning.

The ideal candidate for this position is a graduate of an accredited school of Nursing, holds a current and unencumbered license as an LPN in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and has some clinical experience in the treatment of addiction (preferred). In addition, current CPR certification and knowledge of the Bureau of Drug and Alcohol Program and Commission of Accreditation for Rehabilitation Facilities standards is required.

Responsibilities

Identifies and provides written assessments of patients on admission and throughout treatment

Documents current needs/problems and past medical, psychiatric, drug, and alcohol history and ensures assessment addresses bio-psychosocial needs

Completes multidisciplinary assessments when needed

Identifies and evaluates patients' learning needs, ability, and readiness to learn and documents properly, ensuring that each is addressed during treatment

Formulates and uses a written nursing care plan based on diagnosis, special patient outcomes, and appropriate nursing measures

Integrates plan with multidisciplinary team and patient, including medical problems, medication, diet, and self care needs

Demonstrates appropriate application of nursing skills during detoxification by assessing the patient's needs for medication based on withdrawal symptoms as ordered by the physician

Administers and accounts for medications and controlled drugs in the appropriate place and orders new medications and replaces stock medications as needed

Provides for patient safety through preventative measures

Implements fire safety, infection control, and isolation procedures when appropriate, including disposal of hazardous waste

Responds to and directs emergency situations when necessary

Implements internal and external disaster plans when necessary

Oversees and helps provide instruction for patients, including explanation of procedures, treatments, and medications, provides educational literature to patients, and meets with them individually

Responds to and implements special precautions/interventions for suicidal, homicidal, or aggressive patients until patient can be transferred

Interacts with co-workers in a helpful manner that contributes to high morale

Assesses, evaluates, and revises the written plan of care, ensuring identification of problems as well as patient response to interventions

Delegates duties to staff members appropriately after assessing patient needs and varying skill level of staff members

Obtains and transcribes physician orders in an accurate and timely fashion and carries them out in a timely manner

Demonstrates flexibility regarding unexpected changes in work volume, emergencies, staffing, and scheduling changes

Participates in continuing education to reach professional growth objectives by attending in-services and other training opportunities

Acts as a resource regarding patient care and specialty areas (setting up consults, calling for study results, etc.)

Participates in task forces and committees as assigned

Helps problem solve with other team members

During off hours, performs duties of other departments to ensure smooth functioning of facility and adequate patient care

Follows all infection control practices

May give direction and provide feedback on the performance of Clinical Aides

Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited LPN/RN program.

Current LPN/RN licensure in the state of Pennsylvania.

Clinical experience in the treatment of addiction is preferred
