Public Health Nurse

This position supports public health services by assessing needs, planning outreach, and helping communities address health concerns. As a Community Health Nurse, you will perform the following duties:
- Health Assessment: Analyze community data to identify public health needs and available resources
- Community Outreach: Link programs with partners and support activities that strengthen local public health efforts
- Program Monitoring: Track health programs and use surveillance systems to improve outcomes for assigned populations
- Health
Education:
Develop and deliver public health education on a wide range of topics - Case Management: Provide outreach and support services to individuals and targeted groups to promote safety and wellness
- Disease Investigation: Conduct investigations of reportable diseases and coordinate prevention and control measures

Work Schedule and Additional Information- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch.
- Work infrequently requires statewide travel and irregular or flexible work hours, including overnights, weekends, and holidays.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non‑negotiable.
Special Requirements
- This position requires active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
- If you possess an active temporary practice permit, you must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
- You must meet the PA residency requirement. For more information on ways to meet PA residency requirements, follow the Residency Guidelines.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- You must pass a background investigation.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
- Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
