The Department of Human Services, Bureau of Juvenile Justice Services , North Central Secure Treatment Unit (NCSTU) provides dedicated, high-quality care to at-risk youth residents. We are seeking hard-working, enthusiastic, compassionate, and reliable individuals who are committed to providing exceptional care to our residents located in Montour County.
DESCRIPTION OF WORKThis position supports resident health and medical needs through organized care, clear communication, and timely action. It involves working closely with medical providers, program staff, and residents to ensure all care requirements are met.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Medication Management:
Prepare, administer, and track medications for residents while following established procedures - Medical Scheduling:
Arrange and maintain resident medical, dental, optometry, and psychiatric appointments - Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate medical records, review bills, and ensure all documentation is complete - Care Coordination:
Communicate essential medical needs to staff and collaborate with medical providers and treatment teams - Health Monitoring:
Check medical supplies, monitor resident health needs, and report unusual behaviors or concerns - Emergency Support:
Provide immediate care to residents or employees until additional medical help arrives

Work Schedule and Additional Information- Full-time employment
- Work hours:
Work schedule consists of shift work in a 24/7 operation to include day, evening and holiday rotation:- 10 working days in 14 day period
- 8-hour shifts with a half-hour duty-free lunch
- Shifts:
7:00 AM - 3:30 PM & 1:00 PM - 9:30 PM
- Shifts:
- Rotating shifts to cover a 24/7 facility.
- Must be willing to accept employment at North Central Secure Treatment Unit and commute to this location in Montour County.

- Telework:
You will not have the option to telework in this position. - New hires may be eligible for a $1000.00 Retention Incentive Payment, provided you meet all criteria outlined in the current Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Salary:
Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $89,882.00 (before taxes). - You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. - This position requires active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
- All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- If you are within 60 days of graduating from a school of nursing approved by the State Board of Nursing, you are eligible to apply for this job posting. At the time of appointment to a position, you must show proof of possession of a current, valid PA temporary practice permit or PA Registered Nurse license.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- A conditional offer of employment will require satisfactory completion of a medical examination and a drug screening test.
