Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring PA or compact RN licensure and Level I Trauma experience.

Details
  • Work in the Operating Room department of a Level I Trauma hospital setting
  • Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours, Monday through Friday, 6:45am-3:15pm
  • 6-week rotating schedule requires working 2 weekend nights (8 or 12 hours depending on staffing)
  • Holiday call required for 1 summer and 1 winter holiday (8 or 12 hours depending on staffing)
  • Holiday work required for 1 summer and 1 winter holiday (8 or 12 hours depending on staffing)
  • May float to GI unit or Center One Surgery Center
  • 1:1 patient ratio
  • Uses Cerner charting system
Requirements
  • Active RN license (PA or compact) required at time of consideration
  • BSN required
  • BLS certification required
  • Minimum 3 years of RN experience required, including at least 2-3 years of Level I Trauma experience
  • Level I and Level II Trauma experience required
  • Previous charge nurse experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Scrub and circulate experience preferred
  • Cerner charting system experience required
  • Experience with Level I Trauma, liver, and kidney cases required
  • Skills in vascular procedures (AAA repair, arteriovenous fistula repair, carotid procedures, femoral popliteal bypass) required
  • Skills in neurology procedures (ALIF, anterior cervical fusion, craniotomy, kyphoplasty, laminectomy/discectomy, lumbar fusion, XLIF) required
  • Experience with trauma cases including gunshot/stab wounds and multi-injury MVAs required
  • Experience scrubbing orthopedic and arthroscopic surgeries, spinal fusion, and total joint replacement required
  • Teaching hospital, community hospital, and LTAC experience preferred
  • Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
Additional Information
  • Provide direct patient care in a Level I Trauma general operating room setting
  • Support surgical teams across vascular, neurology, orthopedic, and trauma specialties
  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
  • Candidates residing within a 50-mile radius may be accepted as local candidates at a different rate
  • PA fingerprints and Childline clearance are required and must be completed within 1 week of signing, as processing can take 2-4 weeks
  • Labs must be completed within 48 hours of signing
