Job Description Summary
The Associate Director of Nursing supervises nursing and medical assistant staff, promotes excellence in patient care, supports departmental operations, ensures compliance with healthcare regulations and accreditation standards, and collaborates with campus partners to advance student wellness initiatives. Reporting to the Director of Nursing, this role provides clinical and administrative leadership while collaborating with nurses, medical assistants, healthcare providers, and other support staff to ensure safe, effective, and compassionate care in a positive and professional environment.

Job Responsibilities
+ Direct daily nursing operations and oversee the delivery of comprehensive outpatient healthcare services. Provide the full scope of nursing care, including telephone and in-person triage, patient assessment, interpretation of clinical information, treatment recommendations within scope of practice, and patient education regarding illnesses, medications, and health conditions.
+ Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, medical assistants and support staff to provide coordinated, high-quality patient care. Determine appropriate staffing assignments, delegation of duties and skill mix among licensed and unlicensed healthcare personnel to ensure efficient clinical operations.
+ Supervise, mentor, train, and evaluate professional nursing staff, medical assistants, and support personnel. Directly manage the medical assistant team, including scheduling, performance evaluations, coaching, and administrative responsibilities. Foster a collaborative, respectful, and professional work environment focused on continuous quality improvement and exceptional patient care. Support the Director of Nursing in carrying out departmental leadership and administrative responsibilities. Participate in management meetings, committees, and interdisciplinary work groups.
+ Ensure compliance with University policies, nursing standards of practice, HIPAA, FERPA, OSHA, infection prevention guidelines, and all applicable state and federal regulations. Support quality improvement initiatives and maintain readiness for accreditation surveys, including compliance with AAAHC standards. Promote evidence-based practice and continuous process improvement to enhance patient safety and service quality.

Qualifications
+ Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
+ Master's degree in Nursing (MSN), Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or a related field preferred.
+ Licensure
- Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Experience with Epic electronic medical records preferred.
+ Experience
- Three to five years of progressive clinical nursing experience.
- One to three years of supervisory or administrative leadership experience in an ambulatory care, family practice, student health, or other fast-paced outpatient setting preferred.
- Experience caring for adolescents and young adults within a culturally diverse population preferred.
