Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) | Addiction Treatment | Behavioral Health

The Behavioral Wellness Center at Girard is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our Goldman Clinic team in Philadelphia.

This full time nursing position supports individuals receiving treatment for substance use disorders, addiction, and co occurring behavioral health conditions. The LPN works collaboratively with Registered Nurses, physicians, clinical staff, and other members of the multidisciplinary treatment team to provide safe, effective, and patient centered nursing care.

The LPN assists with the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care while providing health education and support to patients and families. The position requires knowledge of medications, treatments, behavioral health nursing practices, infection control, and Electronic Health Records.

Candidates with experience in addiction treatment, substance use disorder treatment, behavioral health, mental health, psychiatric nursing, medication administration, or related nursing environments are encouraged to apply. Psychiatric or addiction nursing experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Practice nursing under the direction of the Registered Nurse and in accordance with organizational and nursing department policies and procedures

• Provide quality basic medical surgical nursing care to patients and their families under the direction of the Registered Nurse

• Assist with the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care

• Administer medications, therapies, and treatments within the LPN scope of practice and organizational requirements

• Monitor patients and communicate changes in condition or concerns to the appropriate nursing or clinical staff

• Provide health education and support to patients and families

• Maintain accurate and timely written and electronic nursing documentation

• Utilize the Electronic Health Record to document patient care and relevant clinical information

• Follow infection control, medication safety, patient safety, and nursing standards

• Supervise and provide direction to unit mental health workers as appropriate

• Assume the charge role when designated

• Participate in Performance Improvement and Quality Improvement activities

• Collaborate professionally with Registered Nurses, physicians, clinical staff, and other members of the multidisciplinary treatment team

• Use supplies and equipment appropriately and responsibly

• Maintain current knowledge of nursing practices relevant to assigned responsibilities

• Participate in ongoing professional and educational development

• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with applicable organizational and regulatory requirements

Qualifications Education & Licensure

• Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing

• Current and active Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Practical Nurse (LPN) license required

• Successful completion of required organizational orientation and hospital certifications

Experience

• One year of nursing experience preferred

• Psychiatric, behavioral health, substance use, or addiction nursing experience preferred

• Candidates from other nursing environments who are interested in transitioning into behavioral health and addiction treatment are encouraged to apply

• Bilingual English and Spanish capabilities preferred

Work Environment

This is a fully onsite nursing position within an addiction treatment and behavioral healthcare environment.

The position requires regular direct patient contact and collaboration with nursing, medical, clinical, and support staff. The LPN may be required to stand and walk for extended periods and respond to patient care needs throughout the workday.
