Position: Maintenance Repairman 1 - Weiser Forest District, Dauphin County

THE POSITION

The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) seeks a motivated and talented Maintenance Repairman 1. In this dynamic position, you will engage in a variety of tasks daily, ensuring each day brings new challenges in an outdoor environment. DESCRIPTION

OF WORK

In this role, you will primarily focus on providing trade services related to the repair and preventative maintenance of equipment and infrastructure within the Forest District. This includes mowing grass with lawn care equipment, installing and maintaining signs and gates, and setting up kiosks throughout the state forest lands. You will also construct and maintain trails and roads, clear snow from sidewalks and parking lots using basic snow removal tools, and support wildfire suppression efforts by maintaining equipment and participating in related activities.

WORK SCHEDULE AND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
  • This is a seasonal, full‑time position with no healthcare benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2026 through November 2026, after which the employee will be placed on leave without pay until automatically returned to employment in March 2027.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday–Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch.
  • Telework:

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY Minimum Experience and Training Requirements
  • Two years of experience in general maintenance work involving at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant the Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities.
Special Requirement
  • This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
