Quality Control Manager - Structural Steel Fabrication (On-Site)

A respected structural steel fabricator and erector is seeking a senior-level Quality Control Manager to lead shop-based quality operations at their fabrication facility in Westville, NJ (just west of Philadelphia). This is an on-site leadership role focused strictly on quality oversight within a 20-person fabrication shop.

This position is ideal for a seasoned steel professional with strong AWS/CWI credentials, deep AISC knowledge, and hands-on experience developing welding procedures and quality systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all quality control functions within the fabrication shop
• Ensure compliance with AISC certification requirements and industry standards
• Develop, write, and maintain welding procedures and quality manuals
• Maintain and enforce WPS, PQR, and welding documentation
• Monitor fabrication processes to ensure conformance to drawings and specifications
• Coordinate inspections and maintain QA/QC records
• Interface with project management, detailing, and shop leadership
• Support continuous improvement of shop quality processes

Qualifications

• AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) required
• Senior-level experience in structural steel fabrication quality control
• Demonstrated experience writing welding manuals, procedures, and WPS documentation
• Strong working knowledge of AISC standards and certification requirements
• Ability to interpret structural drawings and specifications
• Detail-oriented with strong documentation and organizational skills

Preferred

• Experience working in an AISC-certified fabrication shop
• Familiarity with bolting, welding, and steel QA/QC compliance standards
• Experience supporting third-party audits and inspections

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $110k to $140k DOE
