Research Specialist A/B

We are looking for a highly motivated, dedicated and enthusiastic individual that is excited about doing research focused on cancer genetics and genomics. This individual should be interested in a serious career in competitive science in a dynamic research group. The specialist will be closely working with the Principal Investigator and other lab members on translational science publication-generating projects but is not expected to lead the projects.

Our research focuses on the inherited susceptibility to cancer (breast/ovarian, neuroendocrine, testicular germ cell tumors), understanding the genomic and genetic landscape associated with tumor development and genetic changes associated with cancer susceptibility. The work will involve work with cutting-edge molecular techniques, particularly massively parallel sequencing and single cell sequencing. They also should be interested in bioinformatics analysis, with either some experience in the field or a willingness and interest in learning about it, with the goal of doing independent analyses.

It is expected that the research specialist will develop a high level of independence. The research specialist will work in an environment that is team oriented, where creativity, enthusiasm and dedicated effort are highly rewarded. This position is fulltime, in person also may involve work on weekends and University holidays.

Research Specialist A - The research specialist will be involved in the genetic and genomic characterization of patient derived samples, particularly in the generation of massively parallel sequencing data, but also in other sophisticated methodologies. S/he will be responsible for the generation of data and data analysis (including some bioinformatics). S/he will work cooperatively with laboratory members and collaborate with other groups (both laboratory and clinical) on campus.

S/he also will be responsible for general laboratory duties/responsibilities as needed. Multi-tasking is important.

The Research Specialist-B position will undertake the duties outlined for the RS-A position, with the additional expectation that the candidates will develop novel solutions to research questions in addition to employing only established methods. Moreover, it is expected that the RS-B candidate will have a greater laboratory experience than the RS-A candidate, such that s/he can make greater contributions to more complex genetic and genomic studies.

RS-A

Bachelor of Science and 0 to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

RS-B

Bachelor of Science and 2 to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

$44,500.00 - $57,335.40 Annual Rate

Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, and in alignment with salary ranges based on external market data for the job's level.
