Research Specialist B
The Armellino Center of Excellence for Williams Syndrome at Penn and CHOP is seeking a Research Specialist B, who will conduct research and provide technical support to several social-behavioral research projects on children with Williams syndrome, Down syndrome, or related disorders olyn Mervis' lab.
Responsibilities include administering and scoring Class B and Class C psychological assessments and researcher-designed tasks to children and adults who have Williams syndrome or related disorders. The Research Specialist will enter data into the study databases and perform queries and statistical analyses. The Research Specialist will work closely with the Principal Investigator, Dr. Carolyn Mervis, and the Postdoctoral Fellow, Dr. Vitor Guimaraes, and with other members of the laboratory.
The Research Specialist also will participate in developing and following safety procedures and research standard operating procedures and protocols for behavioral research laboratory practices, in compliance with safety regulations.
The Research Specialist will assist with preparation of conference presentations and with preparation of drafts of manuscripts to be submitted to peer-reviewed journals. Outstanding interpersonal interaction skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, problem recognition and solving, organizational skills, and attention to detail required. Experience working with children is required and experience working with children with intellectual disability is preferred. Research experience with children, especially children with intellectual disability, is strongly preferred.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science with a focus in Psychology and 1 to 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is REQUIRED. Master's degree is PREFERRED.
- 2-5 years of experience in social-behavioral research PREFERRED.
- Experience working with children is required and experience working with children with intellectual disability is strongly preferred.
- Strong organizational, time-management, communication and interpersonal skills, and attention to detail are required.

$50,875.00 - $61,500.00 Annual Rate
Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, and in alignment with salary ranges based on external market data for the job's level.
