A Brief Overview

Under the direction/guidance of a mentor (principal investigator), assumes responsibility for a specific, on-going research project. The experience will serve to extend, refine and enhance skills necessary for professional and career development, and will enable the individual to broaden his/her scientific background by acquiring new research capabilities. It is expected that this individual will conduct independent scholarly research, and will contribute directly to the overall research goals of the project and the research group.

This role will be expected to participate in project planning, recording and interpretation/evaluation of data, and communication of results. This position will also be expected to acquire technical, lab management, and manuscript/grant writing skills; and participate in seminars, lectures, poster sessions and presentations at national meetings. This role also may be required to supervise junior lab members, develop new methods and protocols for research, and assist with the development of other research projects in the lab.

About the Laboratory

The De Raedt Lab is located at the Children's Hospital Philadelphia and University of Pennsylvania, PA, USA. We aim to develop novel, successful therapies, including cellular and immunotherapies, for children with brain tumors by dissecting the fundamental processes of tumor biology and developing highly relevant mouse models.

We are part of the rich academic environment of the University of Pennsylvania, and have a direct connection to the Children's Hospital Philadelphia which allows us to rapidly translate any of our findings.

Ongoing projects:

Genetic drivers of NF1 HGG:
Elucidating the role of additional genetic drivers in NF1 HGG (ATRX) by generating mouse models. MHCII antigen presentation/myeloid mimicry:
Elucidate the role MHCII expression in NF1 HGG tumor cells (see poster ISPNO, Molecular Cancer Therapeutics) Advanced preclinical modeling:
Optimizing tumoroid/organoid cultures for NF1 associated high- and low-grade glioma (see poster ISPNO). Next-Gen CAR-T therapies:
Developing CAR-T therapies for NF1 associated malignancies (NF1 HGG, NF1 LGG and MPNST). We developed a unique pipeline that allows us to target internal proteins using CAR-T (see poster ISPNO). Cellular delivery vectors:
Using migratory interneuron precursors as a cellular delivery vector for therapeutic proteins to glioma (see presentation ISPNO, accepted in Nature Neuroscience).

$20,800.00 - $ Annually
