Job Description Summary
The Paralkar Lab ((Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).) in the Division of Hematology/Oncology at the University of Pennsylvania is seeking a motivated, full-time junior research technician. Our research focuses on the regulation of ribosome biogenesis in hematopoiesis (blood cell development) and leukemias using cutting-edge techniques and experimental systems. The technician will engage in projects utilizing cell-lines, primary human leukemia cells, and mouse models to investigate the mechanisms of ribosomal RNA transcription and nucleolar stress responses.
This position provides an exceptional training environment where the technician will work with an experienced postdoctoral fellow while gaining hands-on exposure to advanced molecular biology assays (CRISPR, RNA-seq, and ChIP-seq) and sophisticated disease models (patient-derived xenografts). Part of the technician's duties will also include lab management operations, such as mouse husbandry, ordering supplies, and ensuring lab safety compliance. The ideal candidate is an academically outstanding college graduate who possesses a passion for basic science, strong organizational skills, and a desire to contribute meaningfully to biomedical discovery.
Applicants must have at least some prior experience working in a molecular biology lab.
Experience with computational biology, flow cytometry, or mouse handling is a plus.

+ Mouse studies, husbandry, genotyping dissection, tissue analysis, flow cytometry
+ Protein-based studies - western blotting, immunoprecipitation
+ DNA/RNA based studies - CRISPR, RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, cloning
+ Lab safety supervision, placing orders, equipment management
+ Drive a research project (collect, analyze and interpret data, and present data at group meetings)
+ Help in the general running of the lab, including: ordering, receiving items, and maintaining lab organization
+ Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Position contingent upon funding.
Qualifications
+ Bachelor of Science and 0 to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
