Job Description Summary

Participate in studies on the molecular basis of sleep regulation and the impact of sleep and wakefulness on protein expression in the brain and pancreas. The primary function of the position is to perform mouse sleep studies, behavioral assays, metabolic assays (glucose tolerance tests, insulin test) surgeries, neuroanatomy and light microscopy.

Job Responsibilities

Perform cognitive behavioral and sleep-wake behavioral studies in mice, immunohistochemistry, fluorescence and light microscopy, protein biochemistry and westerns, mouse surgery and neuroanatomy skills will be required. Will also need to know how to perform metabolic assays, glucose tolerance and insulin tolerance tests.

+ Perform perfusions, sectioning and neuroanatomy in mouse

+ Immunohistochemistry, Light microscopy

+ Mouse surgery and sleep studies

+ Mouse colony management and genotyping

+ Cognitive behavioral testing

+ Metabolic assays

+ Western blot and biochemical assays

+ Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

+ Bachelor of Science and 0 to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required

+ BA/BS Biology, Chemistry or Biochemistry, Neuroscience preferred

+ 1-3 years of experience preferred
