Research Specialist A
This position supports the research activities of the Ko Laboratory, including conducting experiments, collecting and analyzing data, interpreting results, and preparing manuscripts for publication. The laboratory studies the immunological mechanisms underlying periodontitis and other oral inflammatory diseases using human tissue–based approaches and animal models.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory experiments using molecular, cellular, and immunological techniques under the direction of the Principal Investigator.
- Assist with animal studies, including mouse colony maintenance, genotyping, surgical procedures, tissue collection, and phenotypic analyses in accordance with institutional animal care guidelines.
- Process and analyze human tissue specimens, including histology, immunofluorescence, flow cytometry, and molecular assays.
- Collect, organize, analyze, and interpret experimental data using appropriate statistical and computational methods.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records, protocols, and databases in accordance with good laboratory practices.
- Participate in laboratory meetings, journal clubs, and collaborative research activities.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, monitor reagent inventories, and coordinate ordering of laboratory supplies.
- Contribute to the training and mentoring of students and new laboratory personnel as appropriate.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science and 0 to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

$45,278.00 - $60,000.00 Annual Rate
Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, and in alignment with salary ranges based on external market data for the job's level.
