Job Description & How to Apply Below
experience working with Drosophila and/or mouse model systems; a strong background in molecular genetics, genomics, transcriptional regulation, and developmental neuroscience; demonstrated ability to conduct independent research and publish findings in peer-reviewed journals; and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.
Responsibilities may include designing and conducting independent research projects; performing molecular, genetic, genomic, and biochemical experiments; analyzing and interpreting data; preparing manuscripts and presentations; collaborating with laboratory members; and contributing to the broader scientific mission of the laboratory.
The successful applicant will have an opportunity to develop and lead studies focused on the mechanisms controlling axon guidance and neuronal specification during nervous system development in both fly and mouse models. Research projects will investigate transcriptional and signaling networks downstream of the Frazzled (Fra) and Deleted in Colorectal Cancer (DCC) receptors that direct neural circuit assembly and neuronal differentiation. These studies aim to elucidate how receptor-mediated transcriptional programs contribute to the formation of functional neural circuits and how disruptions in these pathways lead to neurodevelopmental disorders.
Candidates with experience investigating transcriptional networks regulated by Fra/DCC receptor signaling and their roles in neural circuit development are especially encouraged to apply. Such expertise will provide valuable contributions to ongoing studies examining the genetic and molecular mechanisms governing neuronal connectivity and will support the candidate's development toward an independent research career.
The University of Pennsylvania is an equal opportunity employer. Candidates are considered for employment without regard to race, color, sex, sexual orientation, religion, creed, national origin (including shared ancestry or ethnic characteristics), citizenship status, age, disability, veteran status or any class protected under applicable federal, state, or local law.
