Library Security Services Manager

Administrative and technical security work directing, through subordinate supervisors, a comprehensive security services program, including computerized security systems, for the city-wide public library system.

• Direct and supervise a comprehensive security services program, including computerized security systems, for the city-wide public library system.
• Direct city and contracted guards providing security and investigative services to protect library patrons, facilities, collections, and other movable properties.
• Conduct or direct investigations of criminal or civil complaints.
• Supervise an around-the-clock operation to enforce security, adherence to rules of conduct, theft prevention, vandalism prevention, and other acts of trespass against the library and its collections.
• Establish and maintain relationships with law enforcement agencies, departmental administrators, and other city agencies.
• Perform work under the direction of a higher-level administrator.

• Current City of Philadelphia employee with permanent Civil Service status and a Performance Rating of Satisfactory or higher.
• Completion of the twelfth school grade.
• Four years of experience performing security or investigatory work.
• Three years of supervisory experience directing security services for an educational campus, municipal, commercial, or industrial building/facility, or an equivalent combination of education and experience as deemed acceptable by the Office of Human Resources.
• Ability to physically perform the duties and work in the environmental conditions required of the position.
• Possession of a valid, proper class motor vehicle operator's license issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania prior to appointment and during tenure.

Philadelphia residents who have maintained a bona fide residence in the city for at least one year prior to the date of the civil service examination are given preference over other candidates with identical test scores.
