Corrections Officer - SCI Fayette

Begin a strong and purposeful career as a Corrections Officer 3 with the Department of Corrections (DOC) at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) s position gives you the opportunity to lead teams and oversee critical operations that keep the institution running with discipline and consistency. You will guide daily routines, manage complex situations, and uphold the standards that support order within the facility.

• Staff Supervision: Direct subordinate officers, assign duties, provide training, and ensure compliance with policies
• Facility Oversight: Monitor daily schedules, supervise inmate movement, and coordinate operations with multiple departments
• Housing Unit Monitoring: Conduct tours, track inmate counts, observe inmate behavior, and document irregularities
• Security Procedures: Oversee transports, process new commitments, and supervise searches of visitors, vehicles, and materials
• Incident Review: Investigate policy violations, recommend discipline, and participate in grievance and fact finding processes
• Crisis Response: Act during emergencies to maintain safety and follow established procedures

• Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
• Work hours and set pass days to be determined
• Eligible for retirement benefits at age 50 or 55
• Telework: Not available for this position
• Salary: Starting salary may be non‑negotiable in some cases

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year as a Corrections Officer 2 (Commonwealth or equivalent Federal title as determined by the Office of Administration)
  or
• Four years of experience in corrections security work in a Pennsylvania state or county corrections facility. Persons under this option must complete or have completed a departmental training program

Other Requirements:

• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required
• PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title
• Must be able to perform essential job functions

Legal Requirements:

• Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements
